Çelebi Port of Bandırma employees donate books to local public library.

Employees of Çelebi Port of Bandırma have donated a substantial number of books to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Bandırma township public library. As a result of these Çelebi employee donations, current best sellers as well as distinguished works of Turkish and world literature have been added to the public library’s shelves. Among the books donated were works by such esteemed Turkish short story and novel authors as Ömer Seyfettin, Gülten Dayıoğlu, Ayşe Kulin, Peyami Safa, and Falih Rıfkı Atay while the examples of world literature included books by many authors such as Hans Christian Andersen, Jules Verne, and John Steinbeck. The campaign focused on contributing to the cognitive and intellectual development especially of primary school children and on encouraging reading habits among them. Works such as The Little Prince, Hans Brinker, or, The Silver Skates, Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, and Heart as well as stories such as Kaşağı [Currycomb] by Ömer Seyfettin are all unforgettable tales of one’s childhood years. Every book that’s read makes countless additions to a child’s perceptiveness, creative imagination, and world view. Çelebi Port of Bandırma employees are proud to have added their own strand to the colorful weave of children’s lives.
